Verse 12
A few days have past here in Evest. Although it is a grand hidden city, it can be quite boring when you can't speak the language of the common folk and can't leave the city and do something exciting. None the less, I was pleased when Dulgos and Cahir returned in the middle of the night while we slept. The next morning as we awoke Dulgos gathered us together in his home and told us of a need the city had for us. He began to tell us that the stranger that was found in the shipwreck would have to leave the city ,or else be killed, before he recovered from his coma, for fear that he would give away the city's location to the outside world. He then asked us if we could take him to NorthHaven, a major port city to the south where he could be taken care of and the city could use the trip there as an excuse to trade a ship load of ore. We of course agreed to the task.
We set sail for NorthHaven a few hours later, though most of our party remained below decks except for Aalaysia who remained behind at Evest for reason of her own. Cahir seemed quite occupied with whatever he and Dulgos had done while they were away, because I didn't see him at all for the whole journey. Binkley stayed around the area that these elves call a galley, which must be some strange elven word for a kitchen, because we surely don't have any of those under the mountains that I hail from, but then again, who am I to complain with the silly labels elves give things. Ne`Stahsia seemed to be enjoying the trip I think, as they were following people all over the ship with smiles on their faces. Gregol, Cerrannor, and I though remained on the deck of the ship mostly lounging about idling chatting about whatever interested us, while we watched sea otters begging for scraps of food along the sides of the ship, and birds called sea gulls fly overhead.
It was not until the sixth day of travel though until the quiet of the sea was broken. It was about midafternoon when another ship was sighted on the horizon turning direction to head towards our ship. From above we heard the word PIRATES! shouted as a spark of panic overcame the crew of the ship. Quickly the elves turned the ship hard about letting the wind catch the sails fully, as people worked feverishly getting additional sails into the masts to pick up speed. By this time it was basicially confirmed that it was indeed pirates we were dealing with, as the flag of the Jolly Roger was clearly seen in the skies. That is when I thought of a plan to keep them away. Shouting to the captain I had the crew raise up the flag of the plague in hopes that the pirates would turn off from their attack. Unfortunately it didn't work and they were closing fast. Then I thought up a second plan, extremely crazy and most likely would just get me killed, but I did it anyways. I leapt into one of the rowboats on the ship and quickly cut loose the ropes before anyone could stop me and began rowing towards the other ship. As I rowed I noticed the pirates intentions for my friends and their ship. A huge reinforced ram was attached to the front of their ship and with their speed as it was, it was certain that they would cause considerable damage. It was not long before I reached the pirate ship, my black cloak covering my face and body. As I reached the pirate ship I threw back my cloak's hood revealing the disguse I had prepared for the occation. I looked very much like I had the plague, in fact it was so convincing to the pirates that they quickly turned off their attack pulling hard about, and nearly sinking my boat in the process. Quite thankful that my plan actually worked and didn't get me killed instead, I turned around to head back towards our ship.
I end this part of my story now, as they pull me aboard, knowing that probably the worse was yet to come at NorthHaven.
