Republican Fund Urges Conservatives to Stay Republican
ENFIELD—In response to recent calls for conservatives to leave the Republican Party in favor of a third party, Republican Fund President Paul Mirski says "leaving is not the answer."
The answer to conservatives’ concerns, Mirski says, is to work towards an increased awareness of and a stronger commitment to the Republican Party platform. That’s something the Republican Fund aims to do, says Mirski.
"We will show that in New Hampshire, we have a terrific party platform with overriding themes of liberty, responsibility and accountable government," he said. "It’s important for people to realize that we are a party of principle and that a majority of Republicans and Republican candidates agree with many, if not all of those principles."
Mirski says he’s proud to be a Republican precisely because it is a "big tent". "This is an exciting party to belong to, it’s full of innovators with different ideas and different backgrounds. Republicans rarely walk in lockstep on anything - and that’s good – but at the core of most Republicans, moderate or conservative, is a general agreement with the Republican philosophy."
"It’s those solid Republican candidates we’re looking for," said Mirski, of the Fund, whose goals are to recruit, support, and train these candidates for the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Although it is not associated with the official Republican State Committee, Mirski hopes these efforts will help strengthen the Republican majority in the House and ultimately the condition of the party statewide.
