Republican Leader Sees Positive Side to Income Tax Vote
CONCORD, NH--Surprising as it may seem, the Co-Chair of the conservative Republican Alliance yesterday called the recent historic vote in the House in favor of an income tax "positive." Representative Paul Mirski, R-Enfield, even went so far as to say, "I see nothing but opportunity here."

Why would a leader of a group, which calls itself "a voice for legislators committed to the Republican party platform," be anything but depressed shortly after passage in the House of the Hager/Below statewide property/ income tax bill?

"Simple," Mirski explained, "this vote finally sheds a light on those members who were elected on the Republican ticket, but have consistently voted against the platform and core principles of the party." Of the 51 Republicans who voted in favor of an income tax, he noted, only a handful have good voting records, otherwise.

He predicted the party would be re-energized by the revelations and he called on grassroots activists to begin planning to retake those seats now held by elected representatives who have, on a regular basis, "sold out their constituents."

In addition, Mirski applauded the recent action by New Hampshire Republican Party State Chairman Steve Duprey, which held those Republicans, appearing to support an income tax, accountable. Further, Mirski praised a letter signed by the state's former governors and the Congressional delegation in DC, which favored the party's long-standing commitment against an income tax, which  Mirski believes, will be the catalyst for bankrupting the state, if it is enacted.
